Ayreen Anastas and Rene Gabri: Camp Campaign

A book about Ayreen Anastas and Rene Gabri’s Camp Campaign, an art project realized in 2005-2007 as part of Art in General’s New Commissions Program. The project included a cross-country road trip in the USA during which the artists visited different types of camps—from detention camps to summer camps. The book includes an introduction by curator Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy; an essay by art historian TJ Demos analyzing the project in-depth; statements, illustrations and photography by Anastas and Gabri, as well as a script that the artists co-authored and pseudonymously signed RL and VL. With a forward by Anne J. Barlow, executive director of Art in General, who introduces the institution and its New Commissions Program. This book is one in a series published as part of such program; the series and first ten volumes were conceptualized and edited by Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy, with assistance of Miguel Amado. It is designed by Project Projects.
